BERNHARD HUBE
Prof. Dr. Bernhard Hube is the Head of Department of Microbial Pathogenicity Mechanisms at HKI and Chair for Microbial Pathogenicity at Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
Research Interests: Molecular biology of human pathogenic fungi (Candida albicans, C. glabrata); functional genomics; host/pathogen interactions; ex vivo / in vitro infection models; extracellular enzymes; regulatory proteases; infection associated genes; iron acquisition; intracellular survival; invasion mechanisms; microevolution; morphology, mode of action of antifungal agents, toxins.
Education and scientific career: PhD and post-doctoral training (University Goettingen); Honour Research Fellow (University of Aberdeen); Postdoc and then Assistant Professor (University of Hamburg); Head of Division “Mycology” (Robert Koch Institute, Berlin); Professor of Microbial Pathogenicity (Friedrich Schiller University, Jena).
